About Stacey

Amato-36a.jpgBorn in Rockaway and raised in a tradition of public service, Stacey Pheffer Amato is running for Assembly to be our voice and fight for our community in Albany. Stacey understands the challenges our families face because she’s one of us – a public school parent, a homeowner, a small business owner and a taxpayer.

Stacey’s career is built on public service, working to improve our schools, help our community recover from Superstorm Sandy and improve our quality of life.  After receiving her Business Economics degree from SUNY Oneonta, Stacey spent 10 years with the FDNY and Sanitation Department as a Procurement Analyst working on department budgets, purchasing goods and services while maintaining fiscal responsibility.  An Education Paraprofessional at the Waterside Children’s Studio School, Stacey has been a member of the Rockaway Beach Civic Association for 15 years, a Committee Member of the Rockaway West NY Rising Community Reconstruction Program, and a Democratic District Leader.

A proud mother of two public school children, Stacey was always active in her kids’ Parent Associations. But when Superstorm Sandy hit during her time as President of the Scholars’ Academy Parent Association, she took the lead to help the community recover.  Her children’s school had been destroyed, and all students were relocated to Brooklyn for five months. Stacey worked with the BOE and City Agencies to ensure that students would get the support and the great education they deserved; she worked with teachers and families to make sure students had supplies the needed; and she worked with the administration and the BOE to make sure that the schools would be safe for students and teachers to return.

Stacey and her husband Frank are co-owners of Elegante Restaurant and Pizzeria, giving her a clear understanding of the challenges facing small business owners throughout our community.

Stacey and her husband Frank live with their two children in Rockaway Beach.
